Summer cont.

Wow.  So many things have happened since I last posted...not really sure where to start.  In July, my good friend Andie came over to visit for a bit, and we headed off to Switzerland.  It was absolutely beautiful.

We visited Zurich the first day, where we spent a significant amount of our time sitting by the sunny lake and catching up.

The next day we hopped on the train and headed to Lucerne where we then hopped on another train to go to nearby Mount Pilatus.

In order to get up the mountain, you have to take the world's steepest cogwheel train up, up, and up.  It may not seem like it was that steep, but trust me, it was.

And it was worth every second, because this was what was waiting at the top.

On the way down, we took the aerial gondola.

After that adventure, we spent the rest of our time in Lucerne- another incredibly beautiful city. (even though it rained most of the time we were there)

Also in July, I got to go with another good friend, Lorna, to Barcelona.  I've never had any major desire to go to Spain, not really sure why, but Barcelona was amazing.  It quickly crept up to one of my top five favorite cities.  Maybe it's because it was sunny and hot and actually felt like summer (something I am not used to), maybe it was the beach, or the tasty food and wine- I don't know, but I loved it.

I have no idea who these people are, but they sat down in front of me, so I took a picture.

Sagrada Famalia- Lorna and I had quite the adventure trying to see this place, but it was worth it in the end.  Crazy church, I felt like I was seeing something from the future even though it's been in the process of being built for over 100 years.  It will be interesting to come back one day and see the progress that's been made...assuming construction is finished in my lifetime??

Next up, Kelly and I went to the Olympics!!  We tried and tried to get tickets to no avail during the last year, and I was finally successful early this summer.  So off we went to London and to the Olympic park to see the diving!

Look!  Mexican food!  At the Olympics!  Too bad its raining...

Also, over the last couple of months, I finished making this blanket for little baby Cottrell.  Can't wait to meet her soon!!

As if my summer hasn't been full of enough fun, Kelly and I headed back to Green Man Festival this year which was just as lovely as I remembered.  Except this time it rained and was reaaaaaaaallllly muddy.  As in, I've never seen so much mud in my entire life.  Crazy.

It took us hours to get out on the final day.  Apparently mixing small cars with small engines and no 4-wheel drive with loads and loads of mud is not a good combination.  Yikes.

Also this summer, my roommate Cherie moved back home to the US.  It was incredibly sad to see her go, but I am so excited for her new opportunities and adventures to come!  We're gonna miss her!

Cherie's leaving meant that Kelly and I could no longer stay at our current house.  Which made me have to look for a new place to call home.  I found a new apartment close to where I was before, but am now living on my own- for the first time ever!  Which is a bit weird, but so far so good.  I'm sure I'll post pictures as soon as I get all settled in.

Remember that new job I told you about?  Well, that's still going really well.  I like it a lot, and I am feeling like I actually know what I'm doing some of the time now, so that's good.  Also, they extended my contract with them until at least the end of March.  Yipee!  And guess what???  I'm coming home at Thanksgiving for about 3 weeks, I'll be in Knoxville and Memphis, and I absolutely cannot wait!
