June 25, 2011

Well, I was going to update my blog today, then realized that my camera is currently not with me and I therefore can't update with any pictures.  But, because I am soooo far behind, I decided to do it anyway- minus the pictures.  Sorry.  Maybe I'll add some later...

A quick look at what I've done the last little bit (...almost 2 months...oops...)::

-Andie came to visit the week before Easter.  I had Good Friday off so we spent the day exploring the Gower.  I'm sooo glad she got to come visit!
 Oh, hey sheep.

And then we stumbled upon these horses.  But they didn't like us.

We walked over the hill after the horses, and found this lovely view.  Which doesn't show up quite as well in this picture because of the clouds.  Oh well...

-The end of April was the Royal Wedding/Bank Holiday Extravaganza/Easter.

Two four day weekends in a row = pure happiness.  I spent the Friday of the Royal Wedding in Cheltenham, a town in England, with my friend, Nia.  We watched the wedding with lots of other people on a big screen in a park.  Early in the morning flag-waving, champagne-drinking, royal-watching was quite enjoyable.

I had approximately no expectations for what a royal wedding would be like, but it was fun!  I think mostly because everyone else was so into it-people all over the world- I felt like we were watching the Olympics.  It was great!  We stayed around Cheltenham the rest of the weekend, enjoyed a Jazz Festival as well as a Food & Drink Festival, and it was actually sunny and nice.

And we had cupcakes! And crab and oysters!  And local cider!  Yummy yummy!  Good weekend.

-May was a busy month that included a quick trip to London with the roomies to see The Lion King, go to Whole Foods, and well, just be in London.  Somehow I managed to cry within the first 5 minutes of The Lion King.  Pathetic, I know.

We also celebrated Kelly's (one of my roommates) 25th birthday!!

Happy Birthday Kelly!!

We spent a weekend babysitting our neighbour/landlord's 5 kids...who are great by the way.

Then, my friend Catherine came all the way from Memphis to visit!  We spent a couple of days in Swansea, then headed to London for a few days.  It was so fun to have a visitor (and an excuse for a fews days off from work).  Thanks for coming Catherine!

I especially enjoyed attending a service at Westminster Abbey, seeing Windsor Castle for the first time with Catherine, Andie, and Lorna, seeing Phantom of the Opera, and seeing Fleet Foxes live in London!!!!  But, I think maybe my favourite moment from this trip to London was waking up early the day I left and catching the first Tube into Paddington at 5:00am.  The whole Tube was completely empty the entire ride, crazy, but I liked it.

Busy month!!!

-June has been a bit calmer...with not too much going on.  Cherie (my other roommate) was off galavanting around the world for a bit, but is back now.  While she was away, some of her brother's friends came to stay with us.

They were on their way to study abroad in Spain.  Super sweet girls.  It was fun to have you here for a couple of days Emily and Katie!!

It was also Cherie's 25th birthday while she was away.  We were sad to miss it, but celebrated this week when she got back with some tasty pasta and strawberry cupcakes.
Happy Birthday Cherie!!

The rest of June has just been rainy, not much you can really do about that, now is there?

35 days until I get to spend almost 3 weeks at home!  I am soooo very excited!!!
